My journey from being an addict to sobriety and walking tall and proud of being where I am today. It started back in 2018 when I got a divorce from my ex-wife of 20 years. A couple that had everything a couple could want 2 kids, 2 cars, 4 bed 4-bedroom house good jobs. She’s a paralegal, me as a steel worker, we had everything working. With a snap of a finger that changed my whole life, I would say a good life of 20 years. Anyhow, we got a divorce. It changed my life for the worse, with depression flooding my mind with hurt, anxiety. I lost my job just to turn to drugs because of the simple fact it would get me passed the depression for which I lived with the past three years after. Methamphetamine there took over my life day to day for the next seven years, being a homeless father of four and an addict, losing my youngest son at the age of 21. Thinking there was no hope on becoming a better man, not even thinking of coming above the quicksand! Until I got put to the ultimatum of my freedom getting jeopardized. They gave me one chance to get my life right or go do prison time for habitual offender. That being said, I went into detox for a total of three days to get myself sober. I have a pit bull that means the world to me and has been there through my toughest times, basically get right or lose her. My last chance, I knew a good friend who I worked for in a small community of 5 clients that helped me to Serenity Paws. I met Katie who owned the business. She agreed to take my dog for three days when I went to detox to get sober. By all means I owe it to Katie, I mean I went to everyone I know to see if they could watch my dog, and no one was there! Katie came to me with open arms and took my baby girl!
